Wiki Wizard

Avid wiki users wanted! Help us bring the good word of sustainability to the internet masses! Do a good deed and create wiki pages for area farmers -- we provide the info and photos.

  • Update our wiki page on the highly popular Davis Wiki
  • Create wiki pages for Sacramento Area farmers -- we have lots of photos to help with that!
  • Create a plan for our Executive Director and Board members to easily update a sustainable ag blog


Story Forager: Interview a farmer near you

Do you have a special place in your heart for farmers? Interview a local farmer for our quarterly newsletter and/or website and tell the world how great our local farmers are! We will put you in contact with farmers who have amazing stories to tell!

We aim to introduce local consumers to the farmers who grow their food – join us in our mission in this special opportunity.

Requirements:

Some journalistic writing and interviewing experience required. Experience with audio or visual equipment a plus, but not required.

Events Volunteer

We travel to harvest festivals, ag conferences, farmers markets, and other events around California to spread the word about sustainable agriculture. Join us and attend fun festivals, conferences and events for free!

Tasks:

  • Attend one or more events on behalf of CAFF, usually with a CAFF employee or other volunteer
  • Pass out literature, fresh food, and other items
  • Engage passersby in conversations about food and farming

Design and/or Website Intern

Looking for ways to build your design portfolio before graduation? New to the field of layout and design? We have many exciting design projects that could be perfect for you.

Photography/Database Intern

CAFF has thousands of digital photographs of pastoral and agricultural life in California -- we need to bring a method to this madness so that we can share the images with others.

Help us create a photography database for tag and organize our collection. Our ultimate goal is to the collection to be publically accessible online.

 

Tasks:

  • Work with staff to create the structure for a FileMaker Pro database specifically for photos
  • Filter through our digital files, deleting those of no value and labeling those to be files
  • Research place and people names on selected images
  • Tag photographs and prepare for long-term storage in the database
  • Upload selected photographs from database to our website

Start date:

Can start any time. Must commit to complete the task(s) you choose, but you may work at your own schedule.
