CAFF’s Farm to School Program works in the classroom, cafeteria, and out on the farm to connect schools to California family farmers. We run on the ground programs like our Know Your Farmer Program and Harvest of the Month Tasting Kit Program and also work hand and hand with Food Service Directors to help bring more local produce onto the menu through our Farm to Cafeteria program.
In the 2010-2011 school year, we worked directly with 5,000 students in our Know Your Farmer Program, and reached 12,600 students in California with our Harvest of the Month Tasting Kits. Our work with 5 school districts in our Farm to Cafeteria program helped change school food for over 60,000 school children.
