REGIONS :: HUMBOLDT COUNTY

The Humboldt chapter of CAFF was established in 2006 to serve as a hub for community projects relating to the region’s food system. Our goals are to:
  • Promote Humboldt County agriculture and small family farm
  • Increase community knowledge of local food systems
  • Improve food security by addressing access, affordability, and education
  • Develop new markets for Humboldt County agriculture

Current Projects

Our efforts are organized under innovative programs that include:

Farm-to-School

Nutrition education for the youth of Humboldt County: Farm fieldtrips, farmers’ market fieldtrips, farmer-in-the-classroom visits, school garden activities and teacher trainings.

Community Food System Education

Education and promotion that keeps local family farming in the forefront including: farm tours, the Humboldt County Farm to Table Calendar, community forums, and local food month activities.

Agricultural Market Development

Our efforts bridge the existing gap between producers and institutions, creating new, lucrative marketing opportunities for area farmers.
