SUMMARY:Glamour + Grit: Art Show & CSA Fair
DESCRIPTION:The true beauty of food lies in the stories behind our meals and the people who grow it. Join us for an art show honoring women farming throughout the North Bay using a model known as CSA\, Community Supported Agriculture. Enjoy food\, wine\, the photography of Loren Hansen showcasing the beauty of these strong\, hardworking women\, and learn how you can forge a deeper relationship with the land and our farmers while bringing home the freshest\, finest\, healthiest food around. \nFree to attend. \nPlus: sign up for a winter or 2020 share of any CSA at this event and you’ll go home with a gift package featuring Davines products: all natural\, eco-conscious haircare that respects and encourages biodiversity. \nFEATURING:\n– Laguna Farm\n– Coyote Family Farm\n– Petaluma Bounty\n– Singing Frogs Farm\n– Green Star Farm\n– Tara Firma Farm\n– Bramble Tail Homestead\n– Little Moon Farm \n### \nDid you know that female producers now make up 36% of farmers in America? And that 100% of CSA farms in Sonoma County are owned or co-owned by women? It’s tough but rewarding work\, requiring both a deep appreciation for natural beauty as well as some serious grit. Thanks to ReFrame for offering these women some much deserved self-care after a long\, hard season in the field. \nThis event is brought to you by Community Alliance with Family Farmers\, ReFrame Hair Gallery & Davines and is part of the “Beauty\, from the Ground Up” campaign” promoting CSA across the country. SUMMARY:Webinar: Small Farm Food Safety Questions De-Mystified
DESCRIPTION:Have you heard conflicting information on how the federal Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) applies to small produce farmers? \nHas a buyer asked you to be “FSMA Compliant?” Have you heard conflicting information about food safety from different people? Join the CCOF Foundation and Community Alliance with Family Farmers and the Farmers Guild (CAFF/FG) for a webinar that goes over FSMA frequently asked questions for produce growers\, as well as clears up common myths and misconceptions about small farm food safety. \nOn-farm food safety is a complicated topic that many small farmers are left to understand on their own. With the start of FSMA inspections on the largest produce farms this year\, there’s lots of talk within the produce industry about food safety. Sometimes farmers hear or are told incorrect information. \nIn this webinar we will go through the top FSMA and small-farm food safety questions we hear from farmers and provide clear\, practical\, and correct answers. We will cover food safety topics including FSMA overview information\, postharvest handling\, personnel training\, and using manure as a soil amendment. \nAmple time will be reserved for questions from the audience. \nAbout Our Speakers: \nKali Feiereisel serves as CAFF and the FG’s Senior Manager for Farmer Services. She provides food safety technical assistance to farmers as they further develop their practices to meet new requirements. In addition to her background in organic farming\, Feiereisel studied food safety\, local food systems\, and food and agriculture policy while completing her graduate degree in public health nutrition from the University of California\, Berkeley. \nREGISTER HERE! \n### \nAbout Our Partners \nUSDA NIFA: This material is based upon work that is supported by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture\, U.S. Department of Agriculture\, under award number USDA-NIFA-FSMA-2018-70020-28869.
