Common Roots Farm welcomes people with and without disabilities to participate on our urban farm. We grow a variety of vegetables, herbs, fruit, and flowers for a CSA while providing farm-based experiences to people living with developmental disabilities. Our farm is approximately four acres in the heart of Santa Cruz, CA.

Common Roots Farm has openings for two live-in volunteers (trainees) beginning in March and concluding end of October. Our trainees receive hands-on experience in small-scale market farming, a small stipend, fresh eggs and produce, and accommodations during the farming season.

Trainees must be able to: work outdoors doing physical tasks, desire to be part of a farming team but also okay working independently, adhere to Covid safety protocols, and want to learn many aspects of our farming operation. Tasks can include plant propagation, bed prep, greenhouse care, planting, weeding, harvesting, packing and washing produce, chicken care, sheep care, egg collecting, and other tasks.  Opportunities also exist for partner farming alongside farmers with disabilities as well as working closely with our farm volunteers.

Please check out our application for more detailed information. Applications are due by February 15, 2023.
