About us

Coyote Family Farm is an established, certified-organic small market farm supplying our community through our farm share program, farmers market, and local wholesale. We grow a wide variety of high-quality produce and flowers all year in a beautiful setting at the foot of Sonoma Mountain. We manage our fields and care for our soil thoughtfully and with regenerative practices. Farm crew members have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of farm tasks, from bed preparation to greenhouse propagation to harvest and packing. We are community-oriented and value our close working relationships on the farm and good communication. On-farm housing (private bedroom and shared common space) is available. Located conveniently halfway between Petaluma and Santa Rosa, and only five minutes from Cotati/Rohnert Park.

Position Details

We are seeking two energetic, positive field crew members to join our team. Positions are seasonal (March-November) with the possibility of extension to year-round. We are looking for individuals with some farm experience who may have the opportunity to take on responsibilities such as irrigation management, greenhouse management, farm share coordination, delivery and farmers market sales as part of their position(s). New crew members will work closely with returning farm crew and the owner/farm manager.

Full-time (30-45 hours/week) March-November, with the possibility for year-round employment

$17-$19/hr starting wage DOE

On-farm housing available

Abundant farm produce available

One week PTO (sick leave) per calendar year, one week additional PTO starts accruing after 6 months of employment

Roles and Responsibilities

Weekly activities include harvest and packing, planting, seeding in the field and greenhouse, cultivation, walk-behind tractor operation (mowing, power-harrowing). After a training period, crew members will have the opportunity to take responsibility for one or more areas of farm production, depending on aptitude, experience and interest. All crew members will need to participate attentively in weekly and daily meetings, keep the workplace clean and organized, and perform accurate record-keeping as appropriate to their role.

Skills and Qualifications

Motivated to contribute to the success of an ecological market farm

At least one full season on a production farm preferred; experience in some fast-paced, physical and detail-oriented field required

Positive and collaborative attitude

Capable (physically and mentally) of repetitive physical work in a variety of weather conditions: cold, heat, wind, rain.

Must be able to lift 50lb occasionally and 30lb regularly without strain.

Able to follow and retain written and verbal instructions and respond to feedback.

Able to work as a team and communicate in real time about the work at hand.

Able to work independently and maintain energy and focus.

Oriented toward effectiveness at work (i.e. enjoy working efficiently and considering new solutions)

Bring a positive attitude to your farm-mates, supervisor, and to the work at hand

Communicate clearly with fellow crew members and managers; make sure instructions are clear to you and that you are carrying them out to the necessary standard
