Farm to Pantry is seeking a dynamic, motivated Operations Manager to lead our team of volunteers. Over the past fourteen years, we have rescued and delivered 5 million servings of direct-from-farm produce to the people in need in Sonoma County. As need skyrocketed due to the pandemic and fires, Farm to Pantry has jumped in full throttle to be part of the solution. Seeing this level of need persisting, we are looking to build our team in order to lead the growing family of volunteers and farmers wanting to join in our effort. This position will be involved in gleaning, developing systems to meet the expansion, and building our connections in the community, while tracking data to show our donors and grantors the efficacy of their dollar.
Farm to Pantry was founded in 2008 in response to a lack of available fresh produce for the most vulnerable members in Healdsburg, California. Farm to Pantry’s mission is to cultivate good health and community by rescuing nutritious, locally grown food to share with those in need and to reduce greenhouse gasses caused by food waste.
We carry out our mission by engaging volunteer gleaners who harvest or collect from local farmers fresh produce that would otherwise go uneaten. The produce is distributed to over 100 nonprofit partners and organizations that provide food to those in need. Additionally, Farm to Pantry develops and supports local projects that connect and educate the community, particularly students, about the need for and the benefit of nutritious produce for all.
This position will report to the Executive Director (ED) and will have responsibility for Farm to Pantry’s gleaning operations and the execution of our mission. This position involves physical outdoor labor, data tracking, community outreach, leadership skills in overseeing volunteers, flexibility as every day presents new challenges, and a willingness to go above and beyond.
