JOB SUMMARY
Fresno Metro Ministry’s (Metro) is seeking a Farm Incubator Project Manager to lead the development and implementation of the YoVille Farm Incubator Program. The candidate will work directly with new and beginning farmers to assist them in the development of sustainable farming businesses. The ideal candidate is bilingual (Spanish/English), has experience in program management, working directly with farmers, grant writing, and regenerative agriculture.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
While the essential functions outlined below describe a significant portion of this position’s assigned responsibilities, other functions and accountabilities may be assigned as needed to further the mission and work of Metro:
Lead the implementation of the YoVille Farm Incubator Program:
- Coordinate and facilitate multilingual farm business classes for small farmers utilizing identified curriculum and supplementary materials for regional businesses.
- Facilitate regular meetings and monthly 1-on-1s with participants of the YoVille Farm Incubator Program.
- Work directly with farm trainees on developing and organizing their business plans including a production plan, marketing plan, financial tracking systems and risk assessments.
- Assist farmers with navigating regulations, local markets, accessing farm land, and applying for grants and loans
- Ensure farmers are following site use agreements and implementing regenerative agriculture practices.
- Recruit and select farmers to participate in the Farm Incubator Program as needed.
- Collect poundage reports, participation logs, and other items needed for evaluation of the program.
- Translate program supplies and resources as needed.
- Provide supervision to project staff, interns and volunteers.
- Purchase farmer supplies and equipment as needed.
Conduct regional small farmer outreach, engagement and partnerships:
- Work with project partners to host multilingual workshops and events.
- Represent Metro at farmer gatherings to develop partnerships.
- Collect and develop resources and materials to support new and beginning farmers.
- Develop outreach materials to engage farmworkers and future farmers in training, workshops and programming.
Assist with grant writing and management duties including:
- Compile and submit Farm Incubator Program reports and invoicing.
- Write grants to further the work of the Farm & Gardens program.
Provide support to other Metro program projects and staff as needed.
