Shemanski Farmers Market Driver (Philomath based)

Gathering Together Farm (GTF) in Philomath, Oregon is seeking a driver for our Wednesday Shemanski Farmers Market in Downtown Portland. This person should reside in the Philomath/Corvallis area. Our market season at Shemanski runs May-November, and additional on-farm hours may be available on a seasonal basis.

This position is primarily responsible for safely delivering product to the market in good condition, while representing GTF in a positive, professional manner and providing great customer service at the market. Experience in retail, and with fresh produce is highly desired.

This Wednesday shift is a long day – typically 13 hours, from approximately 5am to 6pm. Markets are a bustling, busy, but rewarding work environment. You will be working alongside a team of experienced coworkers who are passionate about good food, you will get to build great trading relationships with other vendors, receive paid breaks and lunch, and an abundance of organic produce for your household.

compensation: $15-$17/hr depending on experience
employment type: part-time / 1 day per week – seasonal

**MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE A 24 FT BOX TRUCK WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION!**

Responsibilities:
• Operate a 24 ft. box truck in the city streets of Portland, both automatic and manual.
• Operate safely electric and manual pallet jacks
• Delivering produce and market supplies to market in good condition
• Unload produce and market supplies using safe ergonomics
• Participate in working the market by assisting customers in selecting and purchasing produce
• Load the remaining produce and all market supplies in truck
• Securely transport market cash and supplies to GTF office
• Beware of and follow specific Farmers Market’s policies

Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• The ability to lift 50 lb.
• A valid Oregon Driver’s License as well as a farm endorsement on your license (this can be obtained after hire with help from the farm).
• Experienced ability to operate a 24 ft. box truck, both automatic and manual.
• Additional knowledge of produce varieties preferred.
