Midland School, a distinctive, co-educational boarding school for grades 9-12, is seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking person to join our organic farm and educational community as Faculty Farm Assistant with student supervisory and on-farm educational duties.  A strong candidate will have at least 1 year of organic farming experience, a passion for organic agriculture, and a willingness to thoughtfully engage with our community of employee residents and high school students. The position is physically demanding, particularly during the summer months. The primary duties are listed below and the candidate must possess the minimum qualifications shown below. The position reports directly to our Farm Manager and Educator. This is a full-time position with benefits and potential for on-campus housing. Our campus residential community is filled with outdoor enthusiasts, farmers, animal lovers, artists, and, of course, friendly and talented faculty and staff.

Salary range $33,000 – $39,000

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Assist in all aspects of organic farming: seeding, planting, weeding, bed prep, cultivation, pruning and harvesting.
Assist with all post-harvest work.
Work alongside and educate student workers during our farm sport, internships, and experiential learning programs.
Supervise students in a residential setting.Assist in the clean-up and maintenance of the farm including ensuring areas are free of safety hazards.
Assist with proper function and maintenance of farm support mechanisms and equipment including water, power, and machinery.
Support the Farm Manager in coordinating with the Kitchen Manager regarding the kitchen’s produce needs and availability of farm produce.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work  in a physically demanding position
Well-organized, self-motivated, and able to work effectively independently
Willingness to follow directions and be flexible with changing farm needs
Ability to work as a team and collaborate with others
Experience working on an organic farm
Possess a positive attitude, have high energy, and be self-directed
Pass criminal background  and driving tests
Health clearance for TB screening & vaccinations

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Enthusiasm for organic farming
Prior experience working with teenagers and/or residential or boarding educational environments
