Assistant Vegetable Production Manager

The Assistant Vegetable Production Manager will be working with the Farm Manager to oversee farm duties related to Propagation, Harvest, and Sales. This is a very fluid position, it has the potential to change drastically depending on the excitement of the applicant.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Propagation:
Weekly prophouse seeding according to the crop plan.
Managing prophouse watering and rotations.
Working with farm manager + field workers to transplant and direct sow.
Managing hand weeding.
Harvest:
Manage bi-weekly harvest with 2-3 Employees.
Operate harvest equipment. (Tractor + Harvest Trailer)
Manage wash/pack station with 2-3 employees.
Cold room organization and cleanliness.
Sales:
Create weekly availability lists for customers.
Create invoices for customers.
Deliveries to local businesses using farm vehicle.
Miscellaneous:
Weekly field walks with farm and irrigation managers to observe crop health, and discuss tasks.
Maintaining seeding records, and ordering seed.
Ordering wash/pack supplies (Boxes, penny sheets, bags, etc.)
Keeping the farm orderly and clean.
ABOUT NEW FAMILY FARM:
New Family Farm has its roots in hard work and high quality produce. We started from scratch – literally – working with horses in leather harness for the first four years. Now we farm with tractors on fifteen prime acres in Sonoma County, California and provide excellent quality, organic produce throughout the North Bay. Chefs and customers know that our farm is synonymous with quality.
We are on the cutting edge of ecological horticulture – working toward a sustainable and resilient food shed one season at a time. We make judicious use of both summer and winter cover crops, pollinator habitat, and crop rotation. We strive to constantly better ourselves, our farm and our community, through reflection, innovation and the shared experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior farming experience is a must. The applicant must demonstrate attention to detail, focused on the production of the highest quality produce.
2+ years of prior farming experience.
Bilingual preferred.
Applicants should be able to work hard and efficiently in all weather.
Comfortably lift 50+lbs.
Some tractor experience, or ability to learn basic functions.
EXPECTATIONS:
Harvest 2x per week.
Deliveries 1-2x per week.
6am starting on harvest and transplant days.
Committed to the full farming season.
