Farm Intern

Website Rough Patch Farm

Rough Patch Farm seeks interns for the upcoming 2023 season.  Interns will work with the farmer to design a work plan that meets their needs and interests within one or more of the following areas: floral, vegetable production, and marketing.  The farm raises cut flowers including ranunculus, lisianthus, sunflowers, and zinnias.  We also produce a range of vegetables for retail and wholesale marketing including broccoli, greens, carrots, radicchio, pumpkins, tomatoes, green beans, and fava beans.

Interns would spend a portion of their hours working on areas of interest, and are invited to design an individual project of their own within that.  In addition to the three areas listed above, projects could fall within one of the following areas: grants, organic certification, environmental impact, soil management, and composting.  The remainder of their work would contribute to the overall production of the farm.  This would include jobs like planting or seeding crops, weed control, irrigation, harvesting, and working the stand at farmer’s markets.

Internships are unpaid but each individual is invited to tailor their experience to meet their interests. Interns can be part time or full depending on applicant’s needs, and schedules can be flexible to accommodate the intern’s paid work schedule.  In general, we are looking for spring interns starting as early as mid-January and summer interns starting in May or June, we only ask for a minimum commitment of 6 weeks and at least eight hours per week.  Interns do not need farm experience, but transportation to the Wilton farm is required, as is the willingness to work hard and learn.

To apply, send a message to michael@roughpatchfarm.com, including a brief statement of interests.
