Farm Overview
Located in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada, 30 miles northeast of Sacramento, Natural Trading Co is a 40-acre organic mixed-vegetable farm, orchard, and micro-greens greenhouse. We sell our produce at farmers’ markets in the Sacramento foothills and Tahoe/Truckee areas, in addition to deliveries to local supermarkets, co-ops, and distributors. Established in 1995, we are known for growing everything from arugula to zucchini.
Our farm crew is small, works closely with each other, and is focused on constantly learning and improving our skills. We strive to communicate clearly so that expectations are both known and achievable. We also really enjoy both our work in the field and the delicious food we produce.
Job Summary
The field crew works closely with each other to harvest produce and maintain outside field crops in addition to twice weekly greenhouse work packaging micro-greens and wheatgrass. The work can be physically demanding and repetitive, especially in extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain. But for the right candidate who is seeking experience at a successful and diversified farm business; and enjoys physical, fast-paced outdoor labor and working on a team, the job can be very fulfilling and educational. First year crew members spend much of their time harvesting and weeding in addition to other monotonous but very important tasks. You are learning the rhythms of the farm and how we do things here at NTC.
