Livestock Worktrade for housing in Bodega-September 15th

We are an 80 acre Biodynamic educational farm in a beautiful location between Freestone & Bodega. We are looking for someone short or long term to join our community of ranch residents, farmers and farm apprentices. The housing is a solar powered trailer in a beautiful meadow near a redwood forest in exchange for 14 hours per week of livestock work (goats, pigs, chickens, donkey, cats), and harvesting vegetables. Use of our fully appointed outdoor kitchen, shared laundry facility with indoor shower, parking, and use of our hang out space and a limited amount of storage in our big barn are included. Our farm is a drug/alcohol free environment, aside from very occasional alcohol. As an educational farm with school groups visiting we are firm on this.

We are welcoming a dedicated, strong team member who can keep the pace of market farming, and who would love to enjoy a beautiful farm life while having the freedom to pursue other interests. There is a possibility of some additional paid hours.

The term can be through the first week of February at the least, or longer. We’d be happy to have someone for the remainder of this season and the following season if it feels like a good fit.

The required days of the week are partial days Sundays and Mondays and a full day Tuesdays. The hours are 7am-9am and 5pm-6pm Sundays and Mondays, and Tuesdays, 7am-5:00pm with an hour for breakfast and an hour for lunch. This position will cover morning goat milking & animal care and evening animal care with one other work-trader on the farm crew’s “weekend”, which is Sundays and Mondays, so the days are not flexible. The other shift on Tuesdays is helping with our weekly harvest so also not flexible. We will train you if you don’t have previous experience milking. Occasionally, school children or families visiting the farm will participate in or observe milking and chores.
