Staff Research Associate
Salary Range: $27.09/hr. – $43.58/hr.
Under general supervision develop cost and return studies for various crop and livestock commodities consisting of cost and returns budgets and a narrative describing the best management production practices and the study assumptions. Responsible for entering completed studies on the department website, writing press releases for new studies, and answering questions and information requests from clientele and students. Perform economic analysis for interdisciplinary projects related to comparative farming systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
• Experience utilizing software for word processing, calculations and spreadsheet tasks, and posting on the department website.
• Experience writing, editing and proofreading to compose correspondence, press releases and completion of studies.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
• Knowledge of farming systems, equipment, and farm inputs.
• Knowledge of basic economics and/or business.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with staff, faculty and students, and to communicate technical aspects of the calculations to a diverse set of clientele.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
• BA in agricultural economics or related field and/or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience in working on a farm or in a farm service business.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
• Computer skills to utilize Budget Planner software to analyze the results of field trials.
• Work without constant supervision.
