DESCRIPTION:Take your seed growing to the next level! This intensive is designed for farmers who want to improve their seed production experience skills. Topics will include an in-depth look at the fundamental techniques of seed production\, including: seed crop spacing and timing\, fertility and irrigation needs\, managing self-pollinating and cross-pollinating crops\, organic disease management\, and harvest\, threshing\, cleaning and handling basics. We’ll cover crop specific seed production methods across a range of crops. In addition\, important information on selecting seed crops to maintaining healthy\, diverse crop varieties will be covered. \nThis training is a pre-conference special event leading up to the 32nd annual California Small Farm Conference.
