African American Farming Practices & Farm to Market 101

Join us as we celebrate the richness of African American Farming traditions with farmers at the African American Farmers of California (AAFC) Demonstration Farm Site in Fresno.

During this workshop, participants will learn from farmers about specific Fall and Winter crops, their cultivation practices and some recipes specific to the African American community utilizing the harvest.

In addition, we will provide a base level understanding of Farm to Market 101 for beginning farmers and farmers in the making. Farm to Market 101 covers the 5 most commonly used markets by small/family scale farmers and best practices for successful use/access to them.

This includes: Farmers Markets, Community Supported Agriculture, Selling Direct to Wholesale, Selling to Direct to Retail and Selling Direct to Schools/School Districts.
