SGMA & Cover Crop Farmer Session

This workshop is open to farmers and focuses on practical, on-farm approaches to groundwater management and cover cropping. Drinks and refreshments will be provided. Space is limited and RSVP required via our event page on Action Network.
Farmers Colin Muller (M Three Ranches) and Rich Collins (The Collins Farm) will share results from recent trials of low-biomass winter cover crops planted in furrow bottoms. They’ll talk through what worked, and how these practices fit into real row-crop systems.
Learn more about the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act from speakers including Judith Redmond (Full Belly Farm) and how current groundwater policies affect your operations.
Eligible farmers may receive a free 36-inch soil probe. Probes are available to qualifying operations (generally farms of 200 acres or less). Farmers can stop by the side table during the event to check eligibility and complete required paperwork. Supplies are limited.
This event is hosted by CAFF and funded by the California Department of Water Resources’ Underrepresented Communities, California Tribes, and Small Farmers Groundwater Technical Assistance Program.
