2026 Farmer Policy Platform

This past fall, CAFF engaged with more than 500 farmers to compile our 2026 Policy Platform. Through regional meetings, one on one conversations, and a multilingual survey, we’ve compiled the current and most pressing needs of California’s small and underserved farmers.

California’s family farmers are essential to our state: ensuring access to good food, sustainably managing our natural resources, and forming the backbone of our rural economies. However, much action is needed to ensure that family farmers aren’t pushed out of production by market consolidation, loss of land or water access, or climate extremes. This platform details some key steps to ensure local farmers can continue to thrive.

CAFF’s Policy Priorities for 2026:

  1. Building a Just Agricultural Economy
  2. Equitable Opportunities for Land
  3. Fair and Reliable Water Availability
  4. Market Access and Financial Stability
  5. Climate Resiliency and Disaster Relief
