We graze animals and grow fruits, vegetables and hops
Ranch Hand for Private Ranch in Sutter Creek. We have animals, a large hopyard, a sizeable orchard, an olive orchard, a gorgeous pond and ~100 acres to oversee.
20-25 hours per week, ideally 8am to 12pm x 5 days/week – hours may increase due to season/needs of ranch. On Call for emergencies. Occasional extra days and possibly on weekends.
Responsibilities include:
General Ranch Maintenance
Feed animals
Move animals to cross sections throughout the ranch
Handle animal emergencies
Handle Ranch emergencies (down trees, water leaks)
Consistently check around the property (gutters, rodents, outdoor furniture covers, down branches etc.)
Bench Hill (check propane, look for irrigation leaks, clean Airstream)
Consistently move throughout Ranch to check irrigation lines, animals, fallen trees, etc.
Deer and other rodent mitigation
Assist with Harvesting (orchard, olive orchard, hopyard)
Maintain Pond (unclog aerators, check for leaks)
Maintain Feed Shed and help transport feed from in town to Ranch
Maintain Fences and Gates
Compost maintenance (turning piles, spreading)
Brush clearing/burning
Previous experience with chain saws and chipper
Large equipment experience a plus (Bobcat/Tractor)
Transport grains and feed from in town to Ranch ~10 miles
Must have your own truck
Successful applicant must be able to lift 50 pounds and be capable of hard, physical labor in any weather
Requirements: Minimum 2 years ranch applicable experience. Wrangling, feeding and general animal care experience would be ideal but not mandatory. Successful applicant must be able to lift 50 pounds and be capable of hard, physical labor in any weather. Good communication skills and plenty of common sense a must. Bring a letter size notebook, take notes, follow procedures. Must have a truck and clean driving record. Three job references plus three personal references required.
